OUR AIMS

JAFT is the professional organization for teachers of the French language and culture in Jamaica. It was created in 1974.

 

 The main aims of the Association are to provide an impetus for the teaching of French in Jamaica through its organization and facilitation of the professional development of teachers of French in the island. It seeks to foster co-operation among teachers of French and to act as a forum for them to address such matters as teaching methodology and curriculum development. The Association also seeks to co-ordinate and represents the interests of teachers of French in relation to engagements with government and other relevant bodies with which they must engage.

 

The association has been a member of the FIPF (Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Français) since 2015.

OUR ACTIVITIES

- On going training for the Teachers

- Update on new developments in the teaching of French

- CSEC and CAPE workshops

- Inter-school competitions to motivate the French students:       French vocabulary competition

- Update on vacancies

- Promotion of the international certification in French through the DELF/DALF in collaboration with the Alliance française
