The delayed but very successful Foreign Languages Conference & Annual General Meeting was held at the Jamaica Conference Center on the 1st of February 2019.

Big thanks first of all to our Education Officer for French , Miss Roxanne Lovelace for all the hard work she put in to have made the day a successful one. The first half of the conference was done by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MOEYI), and the Minister . Senator The Honorable Ruel Reid was the keynote speaker of the event. The ambassadors of Mexico , France , Venezuela and Cuba were well in attendance to support the foreign language teachers .
The days proceedings started with a devotion done by students of the Shortwood teachers' college and Sam Sharpe teachers' college . Songs and scriptures done in French and English . The rest of the day was indeed productive and informative .We were able to follow the program by way of a beautiful magazine compiled by Stephanie Anderson Chung , a spanish lecturer from the University of Technology . Hats off to all the teachers who have written and continue to create books for their foreign language students . Mr. Courtney Taylor was saluted and remembered for his contributions to the ministry of education especially to development and teaching of Spanish in Jamaica . May his soul rest in peace .
The second half facilitated annual general meetings for JAFT (french ) and ANPE (Spanish) .
Our general meeting was good , as we were graced with the presence of An icon of French teaching in Jamaica Dr. Jean Small. Our annual election was conducted by our education officer Miss Roxanne Lovelace .

​JAFT received a plaque from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information “for its significant contribution to Foreign Language Education in Jamaica”.
